About the event

The conference is a forum to discover the opportunities opened up by the concept of incarnational mission. It is open to everyone across the Diocese of Coventry, but it will be especially relevant if your context is a church in the sacramental, catholic or liberal traditions. The day will bring together like-minded people, both lay and ordained, to ask:

· Where is God at work outside the Church and how might we we join in with God’s mission there?

· How might we immerse ourselves in our local cultures and allow God’s saving grace to broaden our outreach as we work with others?

· What might we learn from others, so that we can discover the love of God alongside them in mission that is contextually relevant?

In the morning we have two keynote speakers: Canon Angela Tilby will set the broader theological picture and Charlotte Gibson, Anglo-Catholic Missioner for Birmingham diocese, will describe some of the projects she is working with. The morning will end with a celebration of the eucharist, after which lunch which will be provided for all participants.

During the day, there will be time to connect with and be inspired by others who are engaged in incarnational mission and to reflect on what this means in your local context through a range of workshops.

In the afternoon there will be two workshop sessions where you can choose 1 out of 3 parallel workshops, so that by the end of the afternoon you will have been to two workshops. These are as follows:

Workshop 1: Supporting refugees and employability project

Workshop 2: Street Pastors

Workshop 3: Compassionate Communities

Workshop 4: Creation Care

Workshop 5: Growing Faith

Workshop 6: Community Engagement

Who is it for?

The ‘Kingdom is Near’ conference is for clergy, lay leaders and anyone interested in incarnational mission. The day will allow plenty of opportunity for discussion and we hope it will be a launch pad to start a new learning community of people who want to engage in incarnational mission in their local area.

Please feel free to invite anyone you think might be interested.
